Noumia Film is a Berlin- and Luxembourg-based creative film production.
We are filmmakers, producers and motion designers. It is our philosophy to immerse into the protagonist's world leaving it untouched. From reality we draw inspiration and ideas for our films which tell stories of everyday life from a documentary point of view.
Silke Meya was born in 1989, in Bielefeld/ Germany. She studied Motion Design in Berlin from 2010 - 2014. During this time she produced and directed her first short documentary „Leni“ (2012). In 2013, Silke worked as an Assistant Director and Production Assistant in Berlin. Her bachelor degree film „Djado Ivan“ (2015) had its premier at the 49. Hof International Film Festival. In some way, the work on „Djado Ivan“ showed Silke her love for storytelling and gave her the right push to work on her first feature film „Mojsłońik“. In 2015, she founded her own film production company „Noumia Film“ with Laura Mentgen, in Berlin and Luxembourg.
Laura Mentgen was born in 1991, in Dudelange/ Luxembourg. She studied Motion Design in Berlin from 2010 - 2014. Her studies act as a fundament for her work as a Director of Photography. Already during her studies she gained practical experience on several film sets and worked her way up from Data Wrangler to DP. This made it clear early on, that Laura would be the Director of Photography for her work with Silke. Laura was nominated for her work on „Djado Ivan“ for the National Competition for Women Directors of Photography in 2016. In 2015, she founded the film production company „Noumia Film“ together with Silke Meya, in Berlin and Luxembourg.
