Einfach Genial

Put on your running shoes and off you go - jogging is one of the most popular forms of fitness among Germans (source: BMWK, BISp; 2022). However, the sport is not without its dangers: more than half of runners injure themselves once a year (source: Run Better Research, 2022). Shoe developer Andre Kriwet and sports scientist Prof. Dr. Gert-Peter Brüggemann from Cologne want to change this.
Their mission: to create a running shoe that reduces the risk of injury. They are also taking on the big sports shoe brands such as Nike, Adidas, Asics, On and others. The two inventors have developed a unique shoe technology based on the findings of biomechanics: Horseshoe-shaped cushioning combined with a so-called “trampoline membrane” is designed to prevent pain and injuries when running.
Jogging enthusiast Daniel Berner tests the invention in practice for us. Inventor Nico Russ, who presented a modular running shoe sole at Einfach Genial in 2019, also meets the two developers and puts their invention under the microscope. Can Andre and Gert-Peter's innovative shoe hold its own against established brands and revolutionize running?
